Happy Friday everyone! I've been having a happy Friday so far. I worked from home today, which was excellent, I stayed in my pyjamas until eleven and had a nice long shower - these are both things I like about not having to rush to get out of the house in time for a train. Although most of the OMGSNOW (tm Amber) has melted, it's very icy out there and being able to avoid the slippery walk to the station was really nice. So, in short: YAY!
I had actually planned a whole bunch of other blog posts this week, but in true Roisin fashion didn't quite get around to getting them out of my notebook and onto the internets. It's been good to be feeling inspired, however, so you'll get some of those next week. Work has been pleasantly busy this week and everyone has been in pretty good form in my team. This includes my old friend Angry Colleague. After my last blog post I decided to stop whining and actually do something about it, so I did, and it was surprisingly easy. I engaged her in non-work conversation a few times, and it broke the ice amazingly. We're not BFFs now or anything, but it has definitely broken the tension and she's even smiled at me a few times. I still think my instincts were right in that the problem was her attitude about my illness, but I made it too easy for things to escalate by avoiding her completely. It's definitely much easier now and as a result I feel much happier in work, which can only be a good thing. I'm lucky in that the other people in my team are brilliant, so all in all it's been a good week. We have a few Christmas things and leaving parties over the next few weeks and while I'm normally not crash keen on socialising with work people, it'll be a good chance for me to get to know my colleagues better.
I'm going to keep this short because we're going out tonight and I've got a few things to do before we do. However, one of the other benefits of working from home is that there is enough daylight for some outfit shots. It's still difficult to get them inside, but you get the general idea. I bought this dress ages ago on ebay, shamelessly copying Amber. She has one, and looks amazing in hers. Mine looks totally different on me, and much shorter, but it's so much fun and I love it anyway. Also, it gets the thumbs up from Nic, so that can't be bad!

The beautiful detail on the collar is repeated on the back of the dress

...and so is the tattoo detail. Hello sailor!

You can't see it in these photos, but the buttons have little anchors on them

I wore this dress with some vintage earrings from Glad Rags in Coventry
Needless to say, this isn't all I wore today. I put a cardigan and some socks on for working in the house. I didn't even really wear these shoes, because it's too slippery outside. When Nic and I popped out to get some essentials in the afternoon ('essentials' included: 1kg of stilton, 1kg of cheddar, and lots of Benefit makeup. Oh, and some teabags and milk!) I looked more like this:

I love my duffel coat! I just got it back from a long-term loan to Martha, and just in time. It's not exactly stylish, but it is warm. And it means that Nic and I can match, which is my dream come true. (heh)

I did also cheat and get some shots of what I'm wearing out tonight, but I'll post those tomorrow. Nic and I are off out to have dinner in one of our favourite restaurants with some awesome people, and then on to the pub for drinks with some more good people. The weather forecast gives sleet for tonight so it'll be wellies on for the walk, and my pretty shoes in a bag. That'll probably be handy for a gin-infused, icy walk home later tonight!
