I'm finally starting to feel better! In fact, today I felt almost normal. I think I can say goodbye to the flu - at least until I inevitably catch another one on my flight home at Christmas. Still, though, I'm so glad to be feeling better. Last night Louise, Peter, and Jackie came over for dinner and a film. It was such a lovely way to spend the evening. Nic cooked us up a delicious vegetarian chilli and made mulled wine, and we chatted and laughed, and enjoyed a good programme - a Bugs Bunny cartoon, a Laurel and Hardy short, and The Van. The film was my choice - partly because I wanted to see it again, but mainly because I knew Peter would enjoy it, and it was a success. It picked me right up, and I'm looking forward to part 2 in January.
We had a day off today - doing nothing more than going out for breakfast and a few groceries. It's still quite mild for this time of year, but it is definitely getting colder. It was a bit greyer today too, so I was even more in need of bright colours.
Sewaholic Lonsdale dress, yellow cardigan from H&M, yellow belt from A Wear and Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Ultragirl shoes
My Lonsdale dress is very definitely a summer frock, and I think this is the last time I'll wear it before the spring. I wasn't cold, though - I had layered up with a silk slip underneath so I didn't get a cold bum. All good. I do love this dress and will eventually make another one - it's easy, and I love the shape. The bright pink polka dot fabric is pretty cool too, even if it is all a bit candy coloured with the yellow cardigan! I debated a bit about shoes - wondering if I should finish the outfit off with my yellow wedges, but as I was feeling lazy went for my flats instead. As I don't have much of a story about the dress (other than: I made it, it's pretty, I like it, it has pockets) I'll tell you a bit about the shoes. I don't really do flats, but in the summer my open toed jelly flats from Miss Selfridge came in really handy, so I thought a pair of these would for the colder weather. And they have! Not enough for me to justify the full price for them (£84. I can't think of many things I'd pay £84 for, and flat shoes is not on that list) but luckily I didn't have to, as I found these on ebay for the el cheapo sum of £24. See, fascinating story, isn't it?!
Anyway, that's all I've really got to say this evening. It's cold and rainy outside, but it feels so lovely in our little flat - Nic has made more mulled wine, and to the sounds of A Charlie Brown Christmas, we put up our Christmas tree.
They never photograph well, but it looks very pretty in real life, and it casts a lovely light. I am started to get excited about Christmas - mainly about seeing my family, of course. I'm going to leave you with that thought, for I'm off to make a pie for dinner. Oh, one final thing - though. I'm not sure if I was clear in my last post, but if any of you would like that dress, I'm not selling it - I'll just post it to you as a wee gift. So let me know if you think you'd like it!
